22/06/2010 UK power contracts weakened across the board on Tuesday on the back of a bearish fuel complex and soft NBP prices. Improved supply margins pulled the spot down amid improved coal-fired generation. Wind generation is forecasted to improve in the short term.
The European Regulators’ Group for Energy and Gas (ERGEG) launched a public consultation on Tuesday on draft new guidelines for good practice on the regulatory aspects of smart metering for electricity and gas. The document covers a set of minimum and optional services relating to smart metering. It also recommended parameters that should be considered when conducting a cost-benefit analysis as well as before conducting a roll-out. Another section describes the regulators’ recommendations on data security and customer integrity. The draft gives member states, national regulatory authorities and industry guidance for operating smart metering systems in line with relevant legislative provisions from the third energy package. Interested parties have until 3 September to submit comments. Following the consultation, ERGEG will publish all comments and replies received from stakeholders. Separately, the European body has published its final guidelines for good practice on complaint handling, reporting and classification. ERGEG provided member states and national regulators with 15 recommendations on complaint handling, as well as a proposal for complaints classification. The recommendations are addressed to service providers and third parties who work in electricity and gas.
