UK-listed EnCore Oil has successfully tested an appraisal well in the North Sea which it claims will be able to produce 15,000 barrels of oil per day.
The Cladhan well is in the northern North Sea and during tests flowed at a stable rate of around 5,903 barrels of oil per day for over 13 hours. However EnCore believes the well could produce over 15,000 bpd.
Exploration and production firm EnCore plans to carry out drilling at two-to-four further wells later this month and in early October.
This year EnCore Oil made a profit of £11.4m for year ended June 30.
