Independent wind company West Coast Energy has created a subsidiary business in Poznan, west Poland.

The move east has come after research into onshore wind development across Europe. Mary Czulowski, of West Coast Energy said: “The Polish market has a clear financial potential for renewable energy. There are a number of other players in the Polish market, we appreciate it will be competitive.”

West Coast Energy Polska has also joined the Polish Wind Energy Association as a corporate member. West Coast Energy’s director Gerry Jewson said: “Wind energy has an important role to play in meeting the EU target for renewable energy to account for 20 per cent of consumption by 2020, and onshore wind has a big part to play.”

The company based in Mold, North-Wales, has invested £2m in the construction of its award-winning and energy-efficient premises.
