Renewable energy company Beco has been bought by construction and engineering firm Kier for £2.4m.

Beco is based in Totnes, Devon, and designs and installs solar and wind powered operations.

It was one of the first organisations to become a government-approved installer of solar PV cells.

Kier Western managing director Peter Young said: “Kier’s acquisition of Beco is very timely, as it is a company leading the way in providing energy solutions for homes which will reduce carbon emissions and electricity costs.”
