The Energy Select Committee will be holding its third evidence session on the Electricity Market Reform next week and has asked a major renewables supplier to attend.

The MPs will hear from Juliet Davenport, CEO of Good Energy which is the country’s leading supplier of 100% renewable electiricty. She said it represented a real recognition of the importance of renwable generation: “As the UK’s only dedicated 100% renewable energy supplier, Good Energy is in the unique position to offer constructive, practical and expert advice based on a decade of experience in this field.

“We believe that that the EMR must create a system where investment in carbon reductive technologies is encouraged and the infrastructure is in place to support this growth. I look forward to expanding on this in detail with the Committee.”

The select committee will also hear from senior voices from all the big six suppliers during the evidence session next Wednesday. The MPs on the committee will be listening to concerns from the suppliers and their reservations on the EMR as well as asking searching questions.

ELN will be reporting from the select committee next week
