A survey claims that 85% of people would consider switching to a renewable alternative if their boiler broke down tomorrow.

The new poll about the Renewable Heat Incentive scheme by efficiency experts YouGen found that while understanding of the scheme was low, 73% of people would be willing to use renewables if grants were on offer.

Just over a quarter of people polled “think they understand” the RHI, and only 15% said they clearly understood it.

The main reasons given for not considering a renewable heat option were that it is too expensive and too disruptive to install.

The RHI scheme offers payments to homes and businesses that install renewable heating.

YouGen is a website that offers energy efficiency information and renewable business listings to consumers.
