In a letter to The Times newspaper, Energy Minister Charles Hendry has refuted claims that the Department for Energy and Climate Change have “tried to make it harder for planning inspectors to ban pylons.”

He said it was down to regulators Ofgem: “Price control for new infrastructure is for Ofgem to decide and DECC has not blocked any parts of it.”

The letter comes as a response to having to build new infrastructure in the UK to connect new sources of low-carbon power.
