Conergy has built a solar power plant on the 14,000 square metre roof of a coffee roaster in Gran Canary.

The 1.75 kilowatt plant will produce 2,600 megawatt hours of electricity per year.

According to Luis Jiménez Gutiérrez, Head of Conergy in Spain, rooftop systems are increasingly popular. He said: “There is a clear shift of trends in Spain from free-field installations to the rooftops – whether on industrial buildings such as here on the Canaries or on private houses. The potential here is immense.”

It is the largest rooftop-system in the Canaries.
