Leading multinational energy company, Total, has announced a discovery of oil and gas off the coast of north-eastern Angola.

Drilled in a depth of 445 meters out to sea, the Canna-1 well discovered hydrocarbons and produced more than 5,000 barrels per day of high quality oil during a production test.

Total have been present in Angola since 1953 where they produced 460,000 barrels oil equivalent per day in 2010.
