Statkraft is planning to build two onshore wind farms in Scotland and Sweden.
The renewable energy company is putting €250 million into the Mörttjärnberget Wind Farm in Sweden and the Baillie Wind Farm in Scotland.
Both farms are due to be completed in 2013 and will have a combined average generation of 450 GWh (gigawatt hour) per year.
Christian Rynning-Tønnesen, President and CEO of Statkraft said that land-based wind power is environmentally sustainable and could contribute in the transition to a low-carbon future energy supply.
Statkraft’s second farm in the UK, in Caithness, is likely to have 21 wind turbines and a maximum capacity of 52.5 megawatts.
