EDF Energy have announced the second unit at Torness power station came offline today for repair works. The power company said that despite the plant working within its normal capabilities “safety is always always our first consideration and we take a very conservative approach to our operations.”

EDF reported there were no health or environmental impacts and that the unit will be returned to service as soon as the repair is completed, although they did not disclose an exact date.

Earlier this year the plant was shut down after an infestation of jellyfish.
