Businesses have backed the Energy Secretary for his positive stance on renewables. Chris Huhne said today that there was a strong economic case for the growing industry mentioning thousands of new job opportunities and billions of investment generated.

Dr Matthew Brown, Head of Energy and Climate Change at the business lobbying group said: “The Secretary of State is right to highlight the economic opportunity for UK plc from low carbon technologies. It’s vital that Government policies minimise the risk to those dependent on energy while maximising the market for low carbon products and services.”

He added a word of caution to policymakers: “We need to ensure that global low carbon investors choose the UK as a place to do business, which requires certainty in both policy and language.”
