Four fifths of Germans are keen to be more energy efficient to save money according to a recent study. But despite this eagerness only 47% are acting to reduce their energy use.

“Challenging” economic times are throwing a spotlight on the cost savings to be made from energy reduction, said energy consultancy KEMA, which polled 500 German adults about the future of the energy industry.

But this isn’t the only reason why people favour efficiency said Frits Verheij, director of smart energy at the consultancy: “While finances are always a concern for consumers, it’s refreshing to see that many of them are starting to shift their focus to the environmental benefits of energy consumption reduction.”
