A new system combining wind power and solar panels has been launched to store renewable energy.

The system which is being trialled in the US links a wind turbine to a PV panel and stores the electricity in batteries. This power can then be used when there is no wind or sunshine.

Mass Megawatts, the company behind the scheme says its ideal for those living off grid in rural areas and says it offers regular supply. It says the turbine and PV can generate enough power on its own for one household.
