Dame Vivienne Westwood is pledging £1million to an environmental charity that combats the effect of climate change on rainforests.

The extravagant British designer is an outspoken supporter of green causes, declaring in September: “I’ve always used my fashion shows as a platform for my belief in the importance of social justice and the urgent need to fight climate change.”

She chose to give the money to the charity Cool Earth’s campaign, called ‘No Fun being Extinct’, after becoming concerned about the slow progress of the World Bank’s Climate Investments Funds (CIF), she told the Times.
