The economic situation in the Eurozone is set to be a major influence on prices in the UK’s energy market, according to the latest market update from energy supplier npower.

As EU leaders meet in Brussels to thrash out a deal for the Eurozone this week, there’s a warning that the outcome could affect UK energy prices.

Magali Hodgson, npower’s market expert said: “In terms of macroeconomic influencers, this fortnight is paramount to find out the progress of the Eurozone issues, with an EU leaders’ meeting scheduled this week and an OPEC meeting next week providing some market direction.”

She also added that although cold weather across the country could affect the market, “the longer it takes for cold weather to hit the UK, the lesser the impact it will have on prices.”
