The French nuclear safety authority, the ASN has called for improvements to be made for safety systems in French reactors in order to be better prepared for extreme situations.

According to Reuters, the nuclear watchdog was satisfied with all 58 of France’s reactors and none needed to be closed. The ASN made the conclusions to the French government in a report after the Japanese earthquake and tsunami crippled Japan’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant back in March 2011.
