International reports have claimed that Iran has begun the enrichment of Uranium at a plant inside a heavily-fortified mountain, near the Shi’ite holy city of Qom.

Iranian diplomats told the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna the plant at the underground Fordo plant has started operations. Iran say it plans to produce 20% pure Uranium, which some in the West say is too high and is much more likely to be used for creating nuclear weapons.

Tehran maintains its nuclear programme is strictly for energy purposes.
