Smaller independent power suppliers are more popular than their Big Six counterparts in terms of customer satisfaction, according to a recent survey from Which?

Richard Lloyd, Which? executive directorsaid: “The small energy companies perform much better than the larger suppliers in our survey. If this was a properly functioning and competitive market, they would be giving the major suppliers a run for their money, instead of struggling to grow.”

Good Energy tops thetable with the highest customer score of 84%, followed by Utility Warehouse on 78% and Ecotricity on 77%. From the Big Six SSE came first with a score of 51% and npower hit rock bottom with 41%.

Juliet Davenport, Good Energy’s CEO said: “We think our score is reflective of the combination of our customers feeling appreciated together with consistent pricing.”

Which? received responses from over 8000 energy users across the UK and ranked suppliers according to their customer satisfaction scores and likelihood of recommending their supplier to a friend.Suppliers were rated across all aspects of their business from customer service to energy efficiency advice and billing.
