Moving into a new built home can reduce energy bills by around £500, according to research from a homebuilder.

Linden Homes claims new built homes are six times more energy efficient and generate up to half the CO2 emissions than older properties. This is equivalent to driving 10,000 miles less a year per household.

Steve Woomble, Sales Director of Linden Homes said: “Energy efficient new homes are well insulated and include double-glazing as standard – automatically making them cheaper than many older style homes.

“All new homes are also fitted with a water meter, and studies show that new homes are on average six times more energy efficient that older homes, so producing lower energy bills.”

This follows the government’s target to go zero-carbon by 2016.
