A vital gas pipeline in North Wales that provides energy security to thousands of households has received approval for being replacement.

Energy Minister Charles Hendry granted permission for Wales and West Utilities to construct a 22km gas pipeline, which will replace the existing pipeline and provide a safe supply of gas.

Mr Hendry said: “The new pipeline will mean that thousands of residents in Gwynedd and Powys in North Wales will have a safe and secure supply of gas.”

The pipeline will be constructed from Llanwrin in Powys to Dolgellau in Gwynedd in North Wales.
