A further £500,000 worth of government funding will be made available to households to upgrade the energy performance of their heating and hot water systems, it was announced today.

This follows the continuity of the Boiler Scrappage Scheme, which started in January 2010 to encourage homeowners to replace their old, inefficient central heating boilers by giving them a voucher towards the cost of a new boiler.

The additional funding could offer £400 subsidy to more than 1,000 households towards the cost of a new boiler.
