American pop sensation Justin Bieber could give the electric vehicle market a boost after getting an electric car for his 18th birthday.

The teenager was given the $100,000 (£63,000) Fisker Karma, which is powered by dual electric motors with a lithium-ion battery pack, by his manager in a guest appearance on the Ellen de Generes show.

The car also has a solar glass roof which uses solar power to extend the driving range for an extra 200 miles, say the makers.
