The UK’s first all-in-one centre for hiring, parking and free charging electric cars opened to the public in Glasgow today.

That’s according to energy supplier SSE, which set up the centre at its Scottish Hydro Centre for Renewable Excellence.

The opening coincides with the launch of an interactive exhibition about renewable energy in Scotland’s unofficial second city, called ‘Power of Now’.

SSE Chief Executive, Ian Marchant said: “We are very proud to bring the ‘Power of Now’ to Glasgow, one of Europe’s most sustainable cities and believe our investment and partnership working will bring environmental, economic and social benefits for generations to come.”

Councillor Gordon Matheson, Leader of Glasgow City Council said:”This new interactive renewable energy public exhibition will be a great educational tool for our city, especially our children. I am also sure the all-electric facility will help in our fight to reduce our city’s carbon emissions.”
