American baseball team the New York Yankees is getting a new, electric sponsor. The Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, home of the pinstriped big hitters, will be sponsored by US energy company North American Power. The power firm will give a pre-game “power report” on Yankee players’ statistics.

North American Power CEO Kerry Breitbart said: “As a company that is committed to restoring America’s energy future, it’s natural to support America’s favourite pastime.”

Star players in the Big Apple team’s past include Babe Ruth and Henry Louis Gehrig.
