A US coal miner was reported dead last week after a fatal accident at an underground mine in West Virginia. The mine has been shut temporarily following the accident.

Report suggests the man was hit by material from a side wall in the Kingston #2 mine in West Virginia. He was rushed to hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The mine has closed while officials investigate the cause of the accident.

Charlie Bearse, President of Kingston Mining said: “While the mine is idled we will work closely with the outside investigators to determine how and why the accident occurred. We are administering to his family’s needs and providing counseling to his fellow miners at this time to help them deal with the loss of their coworker.”
