E.ON is awarding cash for ‘smart’ innovation research to help create better products.

The energy firm awarded €1 million (£832,000) in total to three international teams from Great Britain, Spain, Italy and Germany who will be working on three “Smart Home” projects.

The research by E.ON will study the usage of ‘smart’ products and their relationship with consumers. They will also compare how different people from different countries use the products.

E.ON claims the research will “revolutionise sales” as it will enable them to add new products and services. They expect the research from outer sources will give them new business ideas.

Urban Keussen, who is responsible for Technology & Innovation at E.ON said: “We regard the research initiative not only as a means of promoting science and research. We also expect it to provide important external stimuli for the development of new business areas.”
