Big Six supplier E.ON is under investigation over its energy sales practice. The regulator Ofgem said the investigation was being launched following information which has come to their attention regarding E.ON’s marketing activities.

The investigation will examine whether E.ON is complying with standard licence condition 25, which regulates face-to-face and telephone sales activities.

E.ON said they were “disappointed” by the announcement, but promised to co-operate fully. Sara Vaughan, Director of Regulation and Energy Policy at E.ON said: “We will now work with Ofgem on their investigation and will seek to demonstrate that we have always acted in the best interests of consumers and have the right safeguards in place to ensure our principles are never compromised.

Ofgem is currently continuing its investigations into the energy sales practices of Scottish Power, SSE and npower, while last month EDF Energy pledged £4.5 million toward helping vulnerable customers following an investigation that revealed it had breached licensing conditions.
