Luxury hotel the Waldorf Astoria in London (pictured) and the Hilton Liverpool are two of four hotels in the UK which will be installing combined heat and power systems.

American utility EuroSite Power says the various CHP systems it will install could produce roughly 4.8 MW of energy a year and could cut the emissions of the four hotels by 502 tons of carbon dioxide each year.

The other hotels are the DoubleTree in Cambridge and the new Hampton by Hilton hotel being built to serve the London Luton airport.

EuroSite Power claims the CHP will lessen the the impact of the UK’s Climate Change Levy and the CRC energy efficiency scheme for the hotels, which are all managed by Hilton on behalf of their owner, the Ability Group.

Paul Hamblyn, Managing Director of EuroSite Power said: “Correctly sized CHP works so well in hotels,” adding the firm is looking to work with other large property holders in the UK and Europe.
