The Department for Business and Innovation is giving a green building group £1million to speed up its work supporting sustainable efforts in the construction and property sector.

Business Minister Mark Prisk announced the Green Construction Board (GCB) will get the extra cash injection yesterday.

The Minister, who co-chairs the GCB said: “The Government is determined to maximise the opportunities for UK construction in sustainable development. This money will enable the Board to take forward a large programme of activities through the voluntary contributions of many people from the industry, who are keen to engage with us regularly to accelerate the transition to a low carbon economy.”

Fellow co-Chair of the GCB Dan Labbad added the Board will be bringing out guidance for construction businesses on the top twenty steps they should take to green their operations. He said it was clear “cash and embodied carbon reductions can go hand in hand.”
