Energy provider E.ON has announced new industry standards for energy sales, which it claims will help consumers get the best service from their suppliers.

The power company said its Third Party Intermediary (TPI) Code of Practice will protect small UK businesses by facilitating the contract between them and the suppliers and helping them get the best energy deal.

The TPI acts as an energy broker or consultant and produces energy on behalf of commercial users. E.ON said its new standards will need to be followed by business energy brokers when selling to customers, which it claims will ensure the product offered meets the needs of the customers.

Tony Cocker, Chief Executive of E.ON UK said: “We’re pleased to announce a series of commitments for our small business customers which will help improve their overall experience; from finding the best product, managing their account and providing help when they need it.”

E.ON said it will be approaching other energy suppliers to invite them to sign up to the code.
