A Danish wind giant has bought three offshore development projects in the German North Sea, it announced today.

DONG Energy made an initial payment of €57million (£44.9million) for the Gode Wind projects, which have a total capacity of around 900MW.

Carsten Krogsgaard Thomsen, Acting CEO of the firm said: “The projects have a good fit with DONG Energy’s project pipeline, ensuring that our installation sequence of building large-scale projects successively could work smoothly and help bring down the cost of energy from offshore wind power.”

Building of the projects is expected to start by 2015.

DONG Energy currently has offshore wind projects of around 2,000MW in capacity under construction in the UK, Denmark and Germany.
