Buying solar panels couldn’t get any easier as you will soon be able to purchase them at your nearest IKEA store.

The Swedish firm will be stocking the thin-film solar system along with a homeowner service package, which includes a full site survey, installation, fitting and a guarantee.

Hanergy Holding Group Limited, a Chinese firm that will be providing the package, is expected to conduct three workshops at an IKEA store in Milton Keynes.

Jason Chow, CEO of the company said: “We believe in the growth potential of the British PV market. This is why Hanergy has decided to launch its small power generation systems in the UK.”

Homeowners are expected to save up to 40% on their electricity bills and can also make money by selling excess energy to the National Grid through the Government’s Feed-in-Tariff scheme.

Last year IKEA revealed its goal of using 100% renewable energy in the long run as part of the company’s global ‘IKEA Goes Renewable’ project.
