Daredevil David Blaine today starts his dramatic stunt of being zapped by one million volts of electricity.

The 39-year old American, known for his death-defying tricks, will spend three days and three nights being ‘electrified’ as part of his latest endurance test in New York.

Wearing a chainmail suit and wire helmet, which is expected to work as a barrier between him and the electric currents, he will suck water through a tube and urinate through a catheter for 72 hours.

Called ‘Electrified: One Million Volts Always On’, the stunt could be the “most effective method” of torture that exists, Blaine told a news outlet. One wrong move, such as scratching, could send electricity through his body.

He said: “It would be like getting hit by seven taser guns over and over and over and over until the power shuts off.

“If I’m hallucinating and I touch my skin obviously that’s a problem – or if the suit rips because I’m stretching and trying to stop my feet from pooling with blood, which happens when you’re standing.”

Also a magician, Blaine’s previous stunts include hanging upside down for 60 hours and spending seven days under water in New York.
