Could you name a renewable energy source? It sounds like the easiest pub quiz question – but according to new research, more than half of Americans can’t even manage to name one.
On top of that, a third of Americans couldn’t say what a fossil fuel is, according to the new infographic from Washington DC-based advisors Cassidy & Associates.
The new infographic called Running on Empty is based on information from studies and polls from groups like Public Agenda and the Associated Press.
In the run up to presidential elections in November, the research also flags up a clash in opinion between supporters of the United States’ two political parties.
While more than half of Democrats say Americans use too much energy, 65% of Republicans think America doesn’t produce enough energy to meet demand.
Gerry Cassidy, CEO of Cassidy & Associates said: “There’s no election season gimmickry here. This should be a splash of cold water reality to boardrooms across America especially as Washington looks to smarter energy investments that deliver the best results for taxpayer dollars.”
