One of the Seven Wonders of the World is set to be powered by solar.

Reports claim a solar plant will be set up near the Taj Mahal in the Indian city of Agra, which will provide a continuous power supply to the iconic building.

The installation of the plant is expected to cost around Rs 17 lakh (£19,580), which will be financed by the Taj Heritage Fund. The Department of Tourism initiated the plan due to frequent interruption of power supply to the Taj, according to reports.

Deepti Vats, an official from the Tourism Department said the plant is expected to provide power to the Taj, the Taj Nature Walk and Shilpagram areas that are often interrupted by power failure.

Earlier this year a report showed India’s installed capacity for solar power reached the 1GW mark.
