Are you an innovator and do you have a new idea for the electricity and gas market? If so, you could be in the chance to win a share of £36 million this year to fund it.

The Energy Innovation Centre (EIC) announced the funding to help UK gas and electricity networks looking for new technologies enhance the way power is transported, monitored and stored. EIC will help match innovators with the energy networks for the projects.

Denise Massey, Managing Director of the Energy Innovation Centre said: “We’re delighted that this year we can open up this wonderful opportunity to innovators and pioneers with ideas for the gas industry. We’ve just moved into bigger and better premises and have seen the gas industry join us as stakeholders. We are now the single point of contact for innovative SMEs to engage with major companies in the energy industry as we work towards more sustainable technologies and a low carbon future.”

The EIC works with electricity companies including UK Power Networks and Northern Powergrid and gas networks like National Grid and Scotia Gas Networks. It is believed to have provided business support to more than 400 SMEs, start-ups and inventors from the UK and internationally.
