In a time of economic crunch, funding is a constant source of concern. With the European Commission proposing large-scale investments in infrastructure to meet ‘Europe 2020’ targets, its Committee on Industry, Research and Energy is holding a workshop this Thursday looking at how best to finance and assess infrastructure projects.

As well as looking at the cost and length of projects, the workshop will also examine how they impact larger society and whether the expected benefits will materialise.

Among the key topics being discussed will be the development of a dozen key ‘energy corridors’ across Europe and the private financing of infrastructure builds through the Project Bond initiative.

The workshop will be broadcast live on Thursday morning through the European Parliament website.
