India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have agreed to work together to promote renewable energy in the two nations.

They signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to co-operate on solar energy and wind power and form a Joint Working Group. They will share knowledge and information through workshops and seminars on different technologies and equipment, the Indian Ministry of New and Renewable Energy said.

India launched its National Solar Mission in 2010 in a bid to increase the use of solar power in the country and also aims to provide power to remote and un-electrified areas.

Last month the Indian Government pledged to help develop renewable energy in Nepal and invest in the nation’s potential hydropower sector.
