Scottish power supplier SSE has created a new post to deal purely with domestic energy supply.

SSE appointed Jane Bednall to lead the Domestic Energy team as Managing Director after it split the domestic business into two areas, the other being Home and Essential Services.

Joining the firm in March, Ms Bednall will have overall responsibility for SSE’s gas and electricity customers in Great Britain, reporting directly to Will Morris, Group Managing Director Retail.

She comes directly from a range of senior positions at Intercontinental Hotel Group but previous experience includes six years at Centrica where she was Head of Brand and Marketing for British Gas.

Ms Bednall said: “This is a very exciting time to be re-joining the energy sector. My driving ambition will be to make a genuine difference for customers and our business. I’m looking forward to joining SSE which is a market leader in the UK energy sector.”
