Business gas supplier CNG is buddying up with the Woodland Trust and plans to plant thousands of trees during 2014.

The charity works to restore the UK’s precious ancient woodlands – at the moment it covers only 2% of the UK.

Staff, customers, suppliers and the local community are being invited to take part in the planting.

Jacqui Hall, MD of CNG said: “Our customers are increasingly looking at environmental credentials and it is something we take extremely seriously and which we hope to illustrate by our campaign to plant 20,000 trees.”

Clare Allen, Head of Corporate Partnerships at the Woodland Trust added: “The UK is woefully short of trees with only 13% woodland cover compared to the European average of 44% so these efforts are vitally important.”
