A UK engineering firm has won a contract worth £2.3 million to supply parts to a nuclear power plant in Sweden.

Hayward Tyler said the order, which is due to be fulfilled in the next 24 months, includes supplying major assemblies for two existing nuclear reactors at Forsmark Nuclear Power Plant – which generated around 22,800GWh of electricity every year.

Chief Executive Ewan Lloyd-Baker said: “With the ‘N’ Stamp approval in place in the US and acceptance onto the CNSIG [Civil Nuclear Sharing in Growth] Programme in the UK, we believe we are in an excellent position to extend our presence in the nuclear market given we now have over 1,000 pumps in active service globally.”

The latest order forms part of the ongoing investment programme at Forsmark to extend the lifespan as well as increase the capacity of the facility. Hayward Tyler has a total of 18 motors installed at Forsmark.
