A new six-month study by data firm ONZO is about to begin, documenting the “whole house” energy use of 15 houses collected from smart meters.
It aims to understand which appliances are used, when and for how long and usage patterns such as which settings are used on washing machines or microwaves.
Consultancy firm Kantar which works with Coca Cola and Microsoft is collaborating on the project.
Alex Johnson, Head of Innovation & New Technologies said: “The ability to measure how consumers interact with the appliances in their homes could have significant potential, particularly in combination with their purchase behaviour.”
