Generation from wind farms across the UK is expected to increase to more than 4GW this afternoon before reducing tomorrow, according to the daily market report from npower.

Client Portfolio Manager Sarah Marshall (pictured) said the power system looks “very comfortable” today, with wind generating more than 3.6GW this morning.

The gas system remains “roughly balanced” and the line pack is forecast to close “three million cubic meters short”.

“Flows remain relatively unchanged since yesterday and the LNG supply for July remains healthy”, she added.

Oil is trading at around $111 (£64.8) per barrel.

“We’re seeing pressure due to an improved supply outlook, with more supplies expected to resume from Libya and also as the final round of nuclear talks begin between Iran and world powers”, Ms Marshall added.
