The Environment Agency has revoked two environmental permits from a waste recycling company in Barnsley, South Yorkshire.

The permits allowed SR Waste Recycling Ltd to operate its waste electrical and electronic recycling facility at Shaw Lane, Carlton and a site at Oakwell Business Park.

Between December 2011 and October 2013, the company accepted waste at its premises “that was not of a type listed” in the permit, the Agency said.

The case is listed to be heard at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court later this month. Without an environmental permit, a company cannot legally operate as a business.
