A waste management company has been fined £7,500 for pollution, Northern Ireland’s (NI) Department of Environment said.

Between June and December last year, officers from the NI Environment Agency investigated breaches of permit conditions relating to groundwater and surface water emissions at Alpha Resource Management’s Mullaghglass landfill site.

The Belfast-based company pleaded guilty to ten charges relating to exceeding the limits set within its pollution prevention and control permits.

It has been fined £750 for each offence plus £40 court costs.
