Schneider Electric has won a multi-million pound deal to provide energy management technology to ScottishPower Renewables.

Under the two-year contract, Schneider Electric will design, install and manage the technology – a 33kV switchgear and wind turbine substations – which is expected to help the utility deliver 215MW of renewable energy.

John Patton, Northern UK Operations Manager at Schneider Electric said: “With our help, Scottish Power Renewables is reshaping the British energy sector to build a new generation of clean and secure power supplies.

“By engaging local suppliers where possible, we’ve been able to deliver a competitive deal to Scottish Power and reduce the carbon footprint involved in such a mammoth project.”

The deal will take the amount of energy being produced by the partnership to 1.2GW by the end of 2016.
