The prime minister’s claim the public is “fed up” with wind farms was shot down today by a wind trade body.

Yesterday David Cameron told MPs he thinks the country has “enough” onshore wind farms.

His view that wind is “unpopular” has been “disproved countless times by opinion polls”, said RenewableUK’s Director of External Affairs, Jennifer Webber.

She added: “The Prime Minister’s desire to limit onshore wind just isn’t shared by the general population.”

The Department of Energy and Climate Change’s latest survey, in November, found two-thirds of people (67%) were in favour of onshore wind.
