Have you got an innovative idea that could help slash energy usage and bills in your community?

If so, you could be in for a share of £100,000!

Ideas could range from hosting energy advice stalls at local shopping centres, crowdfunding solar panels or running a “buddy” programme to help vulnerable households switch energy suppliers.

The new competition is open to all community groups registered as legal organisations in England such as local authorities or parish councils, charities, faith groups, social landlords and co-operatives.

“The successful applications will be able to demonstrate the biggest potential drop in energy consumption and bills”, DECC said.

Energy Secretary Ed Davey added: “Local people will know what works best in their areas and their ideas will help driving even more investment into local energy projects.”

The deadline for applications is 10th February 2015.
