Nigel Holden is Head of Energy Enterprise & Sustainable Development at the Co-operative Group.

Nigel has led the Group energy procurement, energy efficiency and environmental improvement programmes over the last 12 years. His successes include:-

– A multi-award winning energy & carbon management programme which has reduced the Group’s absolute carbon emission by 40%.

– Leading a renewable energy development programme, on track to generate 25% of the Group’s electricity requirements by 2017.

– Head of Engineering on One Angel Square, the Group’s Head Office in Manchester, rated BREAAM ‘Outstanding’ for design and construction.

– The introduction of an innovate approach to energy procurement. Combining the Group’s buying power, strategic partnerships with trusted suppliers and an award winning suite of supporting energy services. The financial and ethical performance of this approach has attracted over 40 external customers to join the buying club, many attracted by referrals from existing members.
